Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role requires an understanding of sterilization techniques and adherence to safety standards. The technician must operate sterilization equipment and maintain accurate records of sterilization processes.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Assemble surgical trays and house-wide kits following specific protocols.
• Monitor sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations.
• Communicate effectively with surgical teams regarding instrument availability and readiness.
• Adhere to safety and hygiene standards in all procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Sterile Processing.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as CRCST or CBSPD is required.
• Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds and capable of pushing and pulling carts.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterilization processes.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and perform basic mathematical calculations.
