CT Technologist - Flexible Shifts
Job Description
The CT Technologist utilizes computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for accurate diagnosis. The role involves interpreting physician scanning instructions, administering contrast materials, prepping and operating CT scan equipment, and positioning patients for optimal imaging. The technologist must also ensure adherence to safety protocols due to radiation exposure.
Responsibilities
- Conduct friendly and respectful interactions with patients and staff.
- Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations while ensuring patient safety.
- Guarantee the quality of CT images for accurate interpretation by radiologists.
- Operate CT scan equipment with accuracy and ensure correct contrast injection.
- Review physician orders for accuracy before conducting examinations.
- Document all procedures and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
- Assess patients to determine the appropriate exposure techniques, especially for women of childbearing age.
- Coordinate patient schedules and flow, ensuring timely completion of exams.
- Ensure a safe environment by managing potential hazards for patients.
- Utilize appropriate techniques for patient positioning to enhance image quality.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in performing CT scan procedures preferred.
- ARRT (R) certification required; ARRT (CT) certification within two years of hire.
- MA DPH Radiology License required.
- Experience with Toshiba CT Scanners is a plus.
Schedule
Flexible shifts including weekends and holidays, covering first and second shifts as needed. This is a 13-week contract position.
