Certified Nursing Assistant - Long-Term Care

Job Description

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This role involves maintaining a safe patient environment and taking accountability for patient care as part of a collaborative team focused on achieving established health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct hygiene and comfort care to patients, including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, and bed making.
• Measure and document vital signs under the direction of the RN, alerting them of any significant changes.
• Perform glucose finger sticks and collect specimens, including stool, urine, and sputum, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Obtain and record daily patient weights and monitor intake and output.
• Ensure a safe patient environment by promptly responding to call lights and communicating any changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Act as a patient sitter when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the nursing unit and patient rooms.
• Deliver care that is tailored to the specific needs of the patient population served.
• Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and primary caregivers at their appropriate level of understanding.

Schedule

This position is a 40-hour per week role with night shift hours from 11 PM to 7 AM. Weekend shifts are required every other week, and holiday shifts are required for 4 out of 6 holidays.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 to 3 years of experience in long-term care and sub-acute settings.
• Current NJ CNA License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• High School Diploma or GED and completion of an approved CNA program.
