Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in maintaining the delivery of quality patient care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is closely followed. This position involves supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while fostering an environment that prioritizes patient and employee safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to create individualized care plans.
- Identify educational needs and goals for patients and their families and integrate these into care planning.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in accordance with policies.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and provide direct patient care based on nursing assessment and planning.
- Initiate discharge planning upon patient admission and educate patients and families in anticipation of discharge.
- Communicate significant changes in patient status to appropriate care providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Direct, train, and supervise ancillary staff while organizing and prioritizing patient care effectively.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to unit operations and participate in team-building activities.
- Assume charge responsibilities as required following the orientation period.
- Engage in continuous professional development through education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS required prior to first shift (specific to certain facilities).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
