Registered Nurse - PACU

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule / Shift

The preferred schedule is 10-hour shifts; however, 12-hour shifts are also being considered. Variable shifts may include days, weekends, and holidays with a requirement to cover 40 hours per week.

Job Description

The PACU Registered Nurse will provide care in a level III trauma facility with a focus on patient recovery post-anesthesia. The unit features 12 beds and operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patient recovery from anesthesia.
• Administer medications as prescribed and maintain patient safety.
• Assist in the management of critical care patients including those undergoing orthopedic, gynecological, pediatric, vascular, ENT, C-section, GI, and general surgeries.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding the recovery process.
• Utilize RX Station for medication management and employ Cerner/SurgiNet for charting.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of critical care nursing experience required.
• Current certifications in ACLS, PALS, BLS, and NIHSS are mandatory.
• Experience with arterial lines and ventilators is preferred.
