Job Description
The Outpatient Physical Therapist evaluates assigned patients and develops, implements, and modifies treatment plans in accordance with patients’ needs, goals, and physician directives. Responsible for the delegation and direction of all discipline-specific therapy services for those assigned patients, the therapist ensures the design of functional treatment programs that facilitate effective community reintegration. Responsibilities also include educating patients, families, students, and coworkers. Additional professional duties include the development of therapy services and program delivery.
Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive evaluations of assigned patients.
- Utilize clinical reasoning to develop appropriate treatment plans and goals focused on progressing patients towards discharge within an established length of stay.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical record documentation, including goal writing and functional quality assessments.
- Participate in student programs by providing a positive learning environment and appropriate supervision.
- Actively pursue professional development opportunities through continuing education and self-study.
- Adhere to state practice acts and maintain professional licensure in good standing.
- Understand and participate in organizational performance improvement initiatives.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school.
- 1+ year of outpatient clinical experience.
- CPR certification.
- Active and applicable state license.
