Registered Nurse - Med-Surge/Night Shift

Schedule

36-hour night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, every other weekend and holiday, available Monday - Sunday.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide patient care aligned with established standards, protocols, and policies. Responsibilities include fostering patient dignity, providing education, planning discharge, delegating nursing interventions, and ensuring safety and appropriate care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care based on standards of care and practice.
• Foster a positive self-regard and dignity in patients.
• Teach patients and families according to identified needs and readiness.
• Plan for and facilitate patient discharge with necessary support.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions as appropriate.
• Prioritize patient care and recognize when to seek assistance.
• Document patient data, interventions, and responses accurately and timely.
• Provide thorough reports to healthcare team members for care continuity.
• Encourage learning and professional development among colleagues.
• Identify and report risks to patient safety and opportunities for improvement.
• Administer medications and IV therapy per physician's orders.
• Assess and reassess patient pain levels and the effectiveness of pain management.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, initiating treatment as necessary.
• Engage in daily multidisciplinary rounds for patient care planning.
• Recognize and communicate abnormal lab and diagnostic results promptly.
• Implement appropriate measures for life-threatening situations.
• Provide ongoing assessment and support to surgical patients and their families.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN License in Massachusetts.
• 1 year of med-surge experience preferred; telemetry experience a plus.
• ACLS certification upon hire or BLS with commitment to obtain ACLS within 60 days.
