Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. This position requires the RN to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice while treating staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.
Responsibilities
- Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Re-assesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
- Develops and implements a measurable individualized plan of care for patients within the established timeframe.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modifies the plan of care as needed.
- Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
- Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Evaluates the plan of care regularly for effectiveness.
- Utilizes effective communication strategies leading to intended outcomes.
- Delegates unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care activities.
- Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating a professional, supportive attitude towards unit staff.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
- BLS Certification from AHA required.
- ACLS Certification from AHA required.
- PALS Certification from AHA required (or ENPC).
- TNCC or ATCN required.
- CPI or equivalent preferred.
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
