Job Description

The Consulting RN is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care within various specialties, including Neuro, ENT, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Cardiac, and Urology. This role requires minimal supervision and involves determining care priorities based on patients’ physical and psychosocial needs, in addition to factors influencing patient flow through the healthcare system.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate and complete assessments of patients; coordinate interdisciplinary screenings and assessments; reassess pain.
• Explain specialty procedures to patients and families, assist physicians with procedures, and utilize specialty equipment.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and follow-up instructions per provider guidelines.
• Prepare and administer medications according to age and clinical condition; manage medication supplies and liaise with pharmacy as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of cardiac monitoring systems and protocols; identify dysrhythmias and treat accordingly.
• Document comprehensive patient medical histories accurately and timely.
• Provide care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces healthcare errors.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and comply with established safety protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Illinois RN License is required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse is required, with a preference for candidates with 2 years in Critical Care or Cardiac Care.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to navigate EMR programs.
