Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department will provide comprehensive nursing care for patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics. The nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while working in a team-oriented environment within a 27-bed Emergency Department of a rural hospital. The ED is a Primary Stroke Center seeking Trauma IV designation.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients presenting with a wide range of chief complaints, including chest pain, respiratory issues, mental health emergencies, and trauma.
• Utilize advanced skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, and central line care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team available 24/7, including board-certified ED providers and charge nurses.
• Float within service line and scope of practice as needed.
• Provide care in designated resuscitation rooms as well as mental health preferred rooms.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Michigan RN License in hand.
• Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience required.
• Experience with Epic charting system is essential.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS.
• Experience in a combined adult/pediatric emergency department is required.
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and manage ventilated patients.
