Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is executed effectively. The RN is responsible for supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while promoting a culture of patient and employee safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to inform individualized patient care plans.
• Work collaboratively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to identify educational needs and goals related to patient diagnoses.
• Provide timely updates and documentation regarding patient status for team conferences.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, ensuring a focus on education and quality outcomes.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching starting from the day of admission.
• Communicate any changes in patient status to relevant care providers to maintain continuity of care.
• Provide direction and training to ancillary nursing personnel while effectively managing workload and priorities.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety follows established hospital policies.
• Foster a positive unit atmosphere through team-building and effective communication.
• Monitor supplies and equipment needs to ensure efficient care delivery.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities following the orientation period as requested.
• Engage in own professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH only).
• Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
• Critical care experience is required.

Schedule

This position requires a night shift of 3x12-hour shifts.
