Job Description

The Med-Surg/Telemetry RN will be responsible for managing patient care in a high-acuity mixed acuity unit. The role includes providing care to patients with various respiratory conditions including COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, and other respiratory distress, while also caring for COVID-19 patients. The nurse will work in a supportive team environment with dedicated leads and specialists.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with telemetry monitoring and respiratory needs.
• Administer medications and manage drips including dopamine, cardizem, and heparin.
• Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias and manage ventilatory support for chronic tracheostomy/vent patients.
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record system (EPIC).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapists and the code team for patient care.
• Participate in admission and discharge processes, as well as rounding with team leaders.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in North Carolina or Compact state.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a Med-Surg or Telemetry unit.
• Previous travel nursing experience is required.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS preferred.
• Ability to float to like units as needed.
