Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

Schedule

Day shift: 0645 to 1915, scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. Hours are not guaranteed, and there is no call required.

Job Description

This position is focused on providing primary nursing care in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, which includes a 3-bed step-down ICU and 12 telemetry beds. The nurse will be responsible for telemetry monitoring, telemetry strip reading, and fingerstick blood sugar testing using Meditech charting and Pyxis for medications. The role may require floating to all acute units in-house, including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit.
• Monitor telemetry readings and respond to alarms appropriately.
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugar tests as needed.
• Utilize Meditech for patient charting and documentation.
• Administer medications via Pyxis and other equipment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year.
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Current PALS certification preferred.
• NIHSS certification preferred.
• MUST possess a valid State of Hawaii nursing license by the start of the assignment.
