Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift from 18:45 to 07:15. Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation with no guarantee of hours.

Job Description

The Progressive Care Unit features a 15-bed unit including a 3-bed step down ICU and 12 telemetry beds. The nurse will be responsible for primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, telemetry strip reading, and fingerstick blood sugar tests.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit.
• Monitor telemetry and read telemetry strips as required.
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugar tests.
• Utilize Meditech for charting and administer medications via Pyxis.
• Operate BIPAP and conduct continuous cardiac monitoring.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year.
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience is preferred.
• Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of assignment.
• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred, as well as NIHSS certification.
