Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

Provide comprehensive therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care to both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Administer care under the direction of ordering physicians and under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Director. Demonstrate expertise in respiratory care for adult, pediatric, and newborn patients. Maintain a working knowledge of Pulmonary Function Studies and testing administration. Actively assist in the orientation and training of new clinical staff in respiratory therapy modalities and equipment. Participate in community education and development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Administer diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams in patient care planning.
• Conduct and interpret Pulmonary Function Studies.
• Orient and train new clinical staff on equipment and procedures.
• Engage in community education and health promotion activities.

Schedule

12-hour shifts with rotating weekends. Early shifts starting at 6 AM to 6:30 PM. Includes 2 on-call shifts.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an approved and accredited school for Respiratory Care.
• Minimum of 5 years of newborn/NICU experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in acute Respiratory Care, including General Floor Care, Emergent Medical, Trauma Stabilization/Treatment, and Newborn Stabilization.
• Experience with Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics and Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehabilitation preferred.
• Current BLS/ACLS and NRP certifications.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care and licensed to practice in the State of Colorado.
• Membership in the American Academy of Respiratory Care (AARC).
