Mammography Technologist
Schedule
This position requires working AM shifts, consisting of 4 × 8-hour shifts for a total of 32 hours per week. The schedule will be Monday and Tuesday, off Wednesday, and working Thursday and Friday.
Job Description
The Mammography Technologist performs medical mammograms to diagnose disease or trauma. They are responsible for programming the mammography machine to ensure the correct density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion. The technologist must prepare, maintain, and operate mammography equipment safely, adhering to appropriate radiation safety guidelines. This role also includes performing and documenting all QA/QC tests as defined by the MQSA. Technologists may be required to work on a Mobile Mammography Van as needed, including some weekends, with all responsibilities applying when assigned to the van.
Responsibilities
- Perform medical mammograms for disease or trauma diagnosis.
- Program mammography equipment for optimal imaging parameters.
- Maintain and operate mammography equipment following safety protocols.
- Perform and document QA/QC tests in compliance with MQSA standards.
- Assist in Mobile Mammography Van operations as required.
Required Experience & Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate from a two-year AMA approved radiologic technology program.
- 2 years of experience in a Radiologic Technologist position is required.
- 1 year of experience in Mammography is preferred.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Mammography is required within 2 years from the date of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
