Surgical Technologist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to assist the surgical team in a fast-paced operating room environment. This role involves performing a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of surgical procedures and maintain a sterile environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
• Transport and position patients on the operating table, ensuring the implementation of aseptic techniques.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and ensuring the sterile field is maintained.
• Help count sponges, needles, and instruments to prevent any retained surgical items.
• Prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens properly for laboratory analysis.
• Ensure medications are labeled and distributed according to established procedures.
• Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room after surgery.
• Be vigilant about safety and hygiene protocols throughout the surgical procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a surgical technology program or equivalent military training is required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical technology is necessary.
• Ability to scrub multiple service lines including Ortho, ENT, Thoracic, Neuro Spine, Eyes, General, Gyne & Urology is preferred.

Schedule

This position requires working 3 x 12-hour shifts, typically from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm. Flexibility to stay past 7 pm to complete cases is required.
