Job Description

Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and therapy involving various medical gases to patients. Responsibilities include performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures in Intensive Care and General Practice Units. The therapist maintains clinical expertise for departmental assignments at various locations and communicates effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other system employees regarding patient care needs. Documentation of all aspects of patient care is required, and supervision, direction, and delegation of tasks to Respiratory Therapists, orients, externs, and students may be part of the role. Additionally, the Respiratory Therapist ensures the completion of necessary and accurate patient billing information.

Responsibilities

• Deliver life-support, resuscitation, and medical gas therapy to patients.
• Perform diagnostic procedures in Intensive Care and General Practice Units.
• Maintain clinical expertise across various departmental assignments.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members regarding patient care needs.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately.
• Supervise and direct other Respiratory Therapists and students as assigned.
• Complete necessary patient billing information accurately.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan.
• BLS certification required.
