Lactation Consultant

Job Description

This position is responsible for providing expert assessment, treatment, consultation, planning, and leadership oversight for optimal lactation management in both inpatient and outpatient settings. For patients with advanced lactation support needs, the consultant will formulate an interdisciplinary plan of care and communicate with the care team related to these goals and plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessments and consultations for lactation management.
• Formulate and implement interdisciplinary plans of care.
• Educate patients on breastfeeding and lactation support.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care.
• Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1+ years of experience as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (BCLC) – Equivalent certifications not accepted.
• A minimum of 2500 hours as a breastfeeding consultant.
• Experience with inpatient lactation programs.
• Outpatient prenatal and postpartum lactation education and consultations experience.
• Meditech Expanse experience is strongly preferred.
• Active Massachusetts license required.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Certifications must be included with the profile upload.

Schedule

The position requires a full-time commitment on an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
