This position is for a 4-day work schedule, 10 hours per day, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Job Description
The Echo Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiograms on both adults and pediatric patients. This role encompasses technical responsibility for conducting 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams, coordinating activities with interrelated hospital departments, and assisting cardiologists in the delivery of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform technically proficient echocardiograms, including 2D, M-mode, and Doppler assessments.
- Coordinate activities with hospital departments, ensuring accurate exam scheduling and patient transport.
- Assist cardiologists in the interpretation of exams by preparing measurements and providing relevant patient information.
- Respond to patient needs during echocardiographic exams and report changes in patient condition to appropriate staff.
- Manage the ordering of echo supplies and maintain cleanliness and organization in the examination rooms.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement activities and maintain quality control of equipment and examinations.
- Provide on-call support for emergency echo exams outside of regular working hours.
- Keep abreast of advancements in the field of echocardiography.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a two-year allied health education program related to patient care, preferred fields include diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic technology, or nursing.
- A.R.D.M.S./CCI registration or registry eligibility, or comparable national accreditation required.
- State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
- BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association.
- Two years of experience performing echocardiograms preferred.
