Job Description

The CT Tech performs diagnostic CT exams under general supervision and follows established policies and procedures. The role includes verifying patient identity, reviewing medical records for exam appropriateness, and interviewing patients to gather medical history. The CT Tech explains the procedure to patients, including potential side effects, risks, benefits, and alternatives. They set up equipment and acquire images as per protocol, review these images, and communicate data to the radiologist. Additionally, the CT Tech responds to medical emergencies and provides post-care instructions as prescribed by physicians. This role requires participation in process improvement activities and educational support for residents, student technologists, and new employees.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic CT exams using appropriate imaging equipment.
• Verify patient identity and review medical records for exam appropriateness.
• Interview patients to obtain medical history and assess risk factors.
• Explain procedures, including risks and follow-up care to patients.
• Set up equipment and acquire imaging according to protocols.
• Review images and document any deviations from established protocols.
• Recognize and respond to medical emergencies.
• Provide post-care instructions as directed by physicians.
• Participate in quality improvement activities within the radiology practice.
• Educate residents and new employees on imaging processes.
• Be available for on-call/standby as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• ARRT certification in CT Tech and Radiology.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in CT and Radiology.
• Familiarity with GE CT and X-ray machines is required.
