Surgical Technologist

Job Description

A surgical technologist is essential in the operation room, offering support to surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists. This role involves anticipating the required instruments for surgery to minimize downtime and maintaining the surgical field in collaboration with the medical team.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the surgical team by handing necessary instruments during procedures.
• Set up and maintain a sterile surgical field, collaborating with nurses and doctors.
• Assemble, transport, and retrieve surgical equipment, ensuring all pieces leave the room.
• Keep surgical equipment ready, including sterile linens, saline, and suction machines.
• Inspect, maintain, decontaminate, and repair surgical equipment while keeping inventory records updated.
• Conduct pre- and post-surgery patient care, including shaving and transporting patients, as well as applying dressings.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have NBSTSA certification.
• Must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• A minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital setting.

Schedule

This position is for 8-hour shifts, primarily from 06:30 to 15:00.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
