Job Description

Med/Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. This role involves a variety of responsibilities, including:

Responsibilities

• Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepare and administer prescribed medications while recording their effects.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures and manage post-treatment home care needs.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs accurately.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective actions when patients display adverse symptoms.
• Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
• Teach patients and their significant others about illness/injury management.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Respond to life-saving situations in accordance with nursing standards and protocol.
• Participate in discharge planning.
• Utilize time management skills effectively.
• Record all care information concisely and accurately in a timely manner.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have ACLS, BLS & PALS certifications through the American Heart Association.
• Must possess a WY RN or multi-state RN license.
