Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care and plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care for Med-Surg patients. The RN will maintain effective communication with other shifts for continuity of care, ensuring satisfactory relations with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality while demonstrating high standards of courtesy and cooperation.
• Plan, organize, and direct nursing functions of patients on the unit, including direct patient care.
• Administer medications and intravenous solutions accurately and safely.
• Utilize gathered data to determine patient priorities and formulate care plans.
• Evaluate patient/family responses to care and modify plans accordingly.
• Complete documentation in patients' records accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Work independently with limited direct supervision using nursing standards and professional judgment.
• Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.
• Maintain professional patient confidentiality and demonstrate concern and initiative.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of 2 years acute care experience.
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
