Nights; 5:45 PM - 6:15 AM, Rotating Schedule: Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing cardiopulmonary care services according to specific Physician's orders and department policies. This role involves assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders, managing therapeutic procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation of patient records.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory assessments and screen patients effectively.
• Determine treatment requirements, including therapy type, method, and duration.
• Formulate and evaluate teaching plans for patients and families.
• Monitor vital signs, arterial blood gases, and overall patient response to therapy.
• Administer medications and ensure knowledge of respiratory medication outcomes and side effects.
• Conduct various tests to evaluate cardiopulmonary functions and adjust equipment as needed.
• Maintain and clean respiratory care equipment, ensuring proper documentation is completed.
• Comply with safety procedures to optimize patient care and reduce errors.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and complete other assigned duties.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current IL Respiratory Therapist License Required.
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs.
