Registered Nurse - Med-Surge/Telemetry

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

36-hour night shift from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, every other weekend and holiday.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Med-Surge/Telemetry provides patient care based on established standards and protocols. In this role, the RN will deliver care that fosters dignity and positive self-regard, as well as address patient/family learning needs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on standards of care and established protocols.
• Respect and uphold the dignity of each patient.
• Develop and implement patient/family teaching plans based on identified needs.
• Collaborate on patient discharge plans incorporating support systems and resources.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions appropriately.
• Prioritize patient care, seeking assistance as needed and recognizing emergency situations.
• Document all pertinent data and therapeutic interventions in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members during patient reports.
• Promote learning opportunities for colleagues and self.
• Identify and report risks to patient safety and healthcare errors.
• Administer medications and IV therapy in accordance with protocols.
• Assess and manage patient pain levels, documenting as necessary.
• Evaluate patient responses and notify physicians accordingly.
• Monitor and interpret patient cardiac function and initiate treatment plans as prescribed.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds for holistic patient care planning.
• Recognize and report abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results in a timely manner.
• Utilize pain management devices and monitors for effective patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience preferred.
• Previous telemetry experience is required.
• Current MA RN License is mandatory.
• ACLS certification upon hire.
