Nights; 5:45 PM - 6:15 AM - Rotating Schedule:

• Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing Cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with specific Physician's orders and department policies and procedures. This role involves assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders, initiating and conducting therapeutic procedures, maintaining patient records, and operating respiratory care equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and complete respiratory assessments of patients, ensuring appropriateness according to age, culture, and psycho-social context.
• Determine treatment requirements including type, method, duration, and medication compatibility based on Physician’s orders.
• Formulate and evaluate educational plans for patients and families regarding pain management and discharge instructions.
• Monitor physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs and consult with Physicians as necessary.
• Prepare and administer medications, demonstrating knowledge of respiratory medication outcomes and side effects.
• Conduct tests to evaluate cardiopulmonary functions, ensuring equipment adjustment for optimal results.
• Maintain and clean department equipment, documenting cleaning schedules and calibrations accurately.
• Utilize established safety protocols in all aspects of care to prevent medical errors and ensure safety for patients and staff.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and additional assigned duties.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current IL Respiratory Therapist License Required
• BLS Certification Required
• ACLS Certification Required
• NRP Certification Required
• PALS Certification Required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy preferred
• Strong computer skills with ability to navigate EMR programs
• Ability to work independently with excellent communication and customer service skills
