Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Schedule

Day shift, No Call. On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs. Regular and sustained attendance is required, and the position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs general nuclear medicine examinations, including therapeutic procedures and PET/CT patient exams in a hospital-based, acute care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nuclear medicine quality control measures, patient exams, and procedures as requested by the medical staff.
  • Assist Radiologists and other medical staff during exams and procedures.
  • Perform ancillary duties to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
  • Document all information required for the interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
  • Verify written/electronic orders and related health information for timely performance and reporting of NM exams and procedures.
  • Participate in implementing, monitoring, and improving hospital quality indicators as outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Complete documentation related to the administration, receipt/return, decay, and disposal of radioactive materials in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Graduate of an Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited program or equivalent.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in nuclear medicine or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB).
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Preferred: One (1) year post-graduate work experience as a registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
