Occupational Therapist Assistant

Job Description

The Occupational Therapist Assistant provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist. The role primarily focuses on evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer a variety of rehabilitation procedures as part of the treatment plan, including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate findings with the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Provide consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding cognitive and physical disorders.
• Effectively collaborate with the health team to discuss patient progress, treatment barriers, and planning.
• Document all patient information and treatment minutes accurately in the electronic documentation system, adhering to company policy.
• Participate in required meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development and care quality.
• Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.

Schedule

This position offers an 8-hour day shift schedule, on weekdays.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant is required.
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
• Active COTA license is required.
