Registered Respiratory Therapist - Rotating Shift

Job Description

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. Responsibilities encompass all patient populations and service areas.

Responsibilities

• Reads prescriptions, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess conditions and determine treatment requirements.
• Determines suitable methods for administering inhalants and makes modifications per physician's orders.
• Evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders and interprets clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.
• Sets up and operates mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration equipment, and aerosol generators.
• Monitors patient physiological responses and adjusts equipment settings for optimal therapy results.
• Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment for safe and efficient function.
• Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patients with breathing exercises.
• Conducts pulmonary function tests for physicians' diagnostic purposes.
• Consults with physicians in case of adverse reactions and maintains detailed patient charts.
• Assists in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and responds to code situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with system-wide competencies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a Co ARC approved Respiratory program required.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT); NRP may be required for certain facilities.
• State licenses as required (PA, NY, MD).

Schedule

This position involves a rotating shift of 12 hours per day, working 3 days a week.
