Registered Respiratory Therapist - D/N Rotating Shift

Job Description

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. This role encompasses all patient populations and service areas, focusing on delivering comprehensive respiratory care.

Responsibilities

• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess conditions and determine treatment requirements.
• Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.
• Set up and operate respiratory therapy devices, ensuring specified treatment parameters are met.
• Monitor and adjust equipment for optimum therapy results while ensuring safe and efficient function.
• Evaluate patient responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gas changes.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and facilitate patient breathing exercises.
• Conduct pulmonary function tests as directed by physicians for diagnostic purposes.
• Maintain accurate patient charts with identification and therapy information.
• Assist in the transportation of mechanically ventilated patients and respond to code situations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory program.
• 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) credential required.
• State License required.
• Documentation of PA Act 31, 33, 34, and 73 compliance may be required.

Schedule

This position involves a rotating shift of 12 hours over 3 days per week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
