Schedule
Nights, 1800-0600, 24 hours per week. Weekends and holidays will be required. Overtime optional after.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Family Birthing Center is responsible for independently assessing and evaluating the health status of labor and neonate patients. Utilizing objective and subjective data, the RN identifies healthcare problems and collaborates with patients, families, and the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans. This role emphasizes patient education and advocacy while ensuring safe and effective care throughout the patient’s episode of care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and monitor responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
- Promote wellness through continuous education for mothers during pregnancy and postpartum.
- Educate mothers on infant care.
- Document patient care and education in medical records using computerized systems.
- Communicate patient conditions to physicians and nursing supervisors both verbally and in writing.
- Support other staff in maintaining skills and learning new procedures and equipment.
- Collaborate with nursery nurses in the care of mother/baby couplets.
- Assist physicians in procedures and support nursing staff in emergencies.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment in the Family Birthing Center unit.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Minimum of two years of nursing experience required. Must maintain an active Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. An Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program is required.
