Respiratory Therapist - Weekend Coverage

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed. This role includes the evaluation of patients and the establishment of suitable treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients while providing necessary education upon discharge.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and various suctioning techniques for secretion clearance.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography procedures according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays and assist with pulmonary function studies.
• Facilitate respiratory care procedures (e.g., Bronchoscopy, Chest Tube placement).
• Handle tracheostomy care, including the insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
• Administer arterial punctures and manage mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and patient responses.
• Communicate effectively with the attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient therapy efficiency.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as necessary.
• Maintain equipment and assist in preventative maintenance and repairs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must possess a valid Respiratory Therapy license and relevant certifications for providing respiratory care.
