Licensed Practical Nurse - Medical/Surgical Unit

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (Three 12-hour shifts)

Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Medical/Surgical Unit is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care to general care patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role emphasizes patient and family engagement, effective communication, and adherence to relevant nursing practice regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document nursing care assessments, interventions, and patient/family education for stable patients under RN supervision.
• Review patient plans of care and active orders in the electronic medical record prior to providing care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, nutrition, and hydration based on care orders.
• Administer oral, topical, and inhaled medications; may administer intravenous medications following NH Board of Nursing training and RN delegation.
• Apply dressings and assistive devices as per assessment or interdisciplinary team orders.
• Report relevant findings to the interdisciplinary team and supervising RN.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment of care.
• Participate in required meetings, learning, and training activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of LPN/LVN experience in a Medical/Surgical setting.
• EPIC electronic medical record experience.
• IV certification is strongly encouraged; training can be obtained on-site if requested.
• Active New Hampshire LPN license or Compact license must be provided with the application.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
