Surgical Technician (CST) Position

Schedule

Generally 6:30am-2:30pm, Monday to Friday, with rotating on-call for nights and weekends. May require staying late as needed.

Job Description

The Surgical Technician (Surg Tech) functions as part of the surgical healthcare team, providing essential technical support to surgeons, RNs, and anesthesia providers in the operating room. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surg Tech arranges supplies and instruments and maintains an accurate count during procedures. Responsibilities include passing instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon, assisting in applying dressings, and preparing specimens for testing. In the Sterile Processing area, the Surg Tech operates sterilizers and conducts verification tests to ensure the sterilization of instruments.

Responsibilities

• Utilize principles of aseptic practice in various situations to maintain sterility.
• Inspect and manage sterile items, ensuring they remain uncontaminated prior to procedures.
• Anticipate the need for supplies and equipment, checking for outdates and restocking as required.
• Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments following use, ensuring they are in proper working condition.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must be a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with a minimum of 5 years of current experience. Registration as a Surgical Technician in the State of Colorado is required.
