Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist, you will assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field. You will provide instrumentation as needed to the surgical team and contribute to unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care, functioning under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in sterile and aseptic technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and tools necessary for invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain and check all items for proper packaging and sterilization, ensuring a safe operating room environment.
• Monitor the sterile field for any contamination, and initiate corrective action as needed.
• Work towards competency or demonstrate competence with Tier 1 surgical cases.
• Participate in effective communication within the perioperative team, including participation in briefings and debriefings.
• Assist the team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
• Keep up-to-date with new technologies and procedures relevant to instrumentation and equipment.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Model and practice the principles of a Just Culture in the workplace.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist.
• License as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements and access job-specific competencies.
• Proficiency in the English language, with capabilities in reading, writing, and speaking.
