Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) - 26-Week Contract

Schedule

Full-Time, 3x12s - day or night shift (scheduled as needed by client) + 2 on-call shifts in 4 weeks, day/night variable shifts.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. This position involves special skills in caring for adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
• Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and data analysis.
• Creates individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
• Teaches and motivates patients/families in self-care and post-discharge instructions.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing practice and engages in self-evaluation.
• Develops helping, trusting relationships with patients and families by being present and attentive.
• Documents education and patient/family responses to care provided.
• Demonstrates interventions including medication administration safely.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure
• BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
• NIHSS certification
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in a Med/Surg environment.
