Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, within their professional license scope and with minimal supervision. This role involves evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients about procedures and equipment upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning through various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Provide tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tubes.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Set up and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of treatments and patient responses.
• Communicate effectively with attending physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Ensure proper respiratory therapy charging and data entry.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must hold a valid Respiratory Care License and relevant certifications, as well as experience in a clinical setting providing respiratory care.
