Registered Nurse - High Acuity Surgical Trauma

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift - 12 hours, 3 shifts per week. Must be willing to work any given shifts; no block schedules.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our high acuity floor, specializing in surgical trauma. The nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to a diverse population that includes surgical patients and individuals with severe injuries such as gunshots, quadriplegia, and paraplegia.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in accordance with established standards for surgical trauma patients.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1 for optimum care delivery.
• Collaborate with nursing support techs, phlebotomists, and unit secretaries to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in nurse handoff procedures with the emergency department and admitting unit.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty area of surgical trauma nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Experience using EPIC electronic health record system is required.
