Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Per Diem)
Schedule
12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Must be available for weekends and full schedule through late January and early February.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care through the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role includes providing direct patient care within the scope of practice and maintaining professional nursing standards.
The RN will communicate effectively with physicians regarding changes in patients' clinical conditions, diagnostic study results, and symptomatology. The role requires the ability to respond swiftly and accurately to shifts in patient conditions and treatment responses.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Guide patient and family education effectively.
- Direct and supervise the activities of other nursing personnel.
- Ensure compliance with EMTALA regulations and relevant reporting requirements.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality throughout care processes.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital, preferably in an ER setting.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or Red Cross).
- Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate.
- COVID vaccination preferred.
- Experience with Meditech EMR.
- Proof of MMR and Varicella vaccination or attestation of vaccination/declination.
