Registered Nurse - Med-Surg

Varied days, 6 AM - 6:30 PM, plus every 6th weekend.

Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care for Med-Surg patients, plans and evaluates total nursing care, and ensures continuity of care by effectively relating with other shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions.
• Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
• Maintains accurate and complete recording and reporting standards.
• Evaluates patient and family responses to the nursing plan of care and modifies it as necessary.
• Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Ensures compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
• Works independently using the Nurse Practice Act, LCHC policies, and nursing standards.
• Carries out nursing interventions safely and accurately.
• Communicates effectively with peers and other healthcare professionals.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of 2 years acute care experience.
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
