Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Varied schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours, with options for days (06:00-18:30, 07:00-19:30, 08:00-20:30).

Call requirements include rotation approximately once every six weeks, which may become as frequent as once every four weeks during weekends.

Job Description

The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit (COU) provides a high level of care for Cath Lab patients both pre and post procedures. The nurse evaluates assigned patients, plans, implements, and documents nursing care, while also assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Admit and prep patients for Cath Lab procedures including charting pre-procedure checklists and starting IVs.
• Prepare patients for Cardiac procedures, including Cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
• Recover patients following Cath procedures who have undergone conscious sedation.
• Conduct bedside procedures, including sedation and documentation for Cardioversions and TEEs.
• Discharge patients with thorough teaching and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license in Arizona or a compact state.
• ACLS and BLS certification.
• Consideration for experience in PACU, ICU, Telemetry, Cath Lab, or Surgery Center on a case-by-case basis.
