Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Varied shifts including 3 x 12-hour days (0600-1830, 0700-1930, 0800-2030). Call requirements rotated approximately every six weeks, including weekends.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides a high level of care for Cath Lab patients both pre and post procedures, evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care. The nurse assists physicians during examinations and procedures and performs various patient tests while administering medications within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Admit patients and prepare them for Cath procedures, including pre-procedure charting and IV starts.
• Prepare patients for Cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
• Recover patients following procedures under conscious sedation.
• Circulate, sedate, and document bedside procedures such as Cardioversions and TEEs.
• Discharge patients, ensuring thorough teaching, documentation, and physical discharge procedures are followed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license in Arizona or a compact state.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• Consideration for experience in PACU, ICU, telemetry, Cath Lab, or surgery center on a case-by-case basis.
