Registered Nurse - PCU

Schedule

This position offers a 13-week contract with three 12-hour shifts a week, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Candidates are required to work every other weekend.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities

• Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and interpret EKG rhythms and manage cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips.
• Provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis, tube feedings, and managing NG/dobhoff tubes.
• Perform procedures including thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, and central line dressing changes.
• Conduct hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights, using AIDET principles.
• Engage in effective communication with patients and families, maintaining updated communication boards.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse license.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required.
• Experience with critical care, including management of bipaps, high flow oxygen, and various oxygen delivery systems.
• Preferred experience: Peritoneal dialysis and post-cardiac cath care.
• Skills in peripheral IV insertion and care, including troubleshooting wound vacs.
