Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit

Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position for a Registered Nurse in a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit. The unit caters to a diverse patient population, including patients undergoing general and vascular surgeries, bariatric and plastic surgeries, trauma cases, and stroke management. The environment is fast-paced, offering great learning opportunities for both graduate and experienced nurses.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on comprehensive assessments.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in providing patient-centered care focused on safety and positive outcomes.
• Engage in continuous learning and professional development through certification and higher education.
• Communicate effectively within the interdisciplinary care team using methods like SBAR and fostering collegial relationships.
• Manage time efficiently and support team performance through effective delegation and collaboration.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of straight Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
• Experience in a Level II or I Trauma unit.
• A valid Michigan RN license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Schedule

Full-time, 12-hour night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required.
