Sonographer - Ultrasound

Job Description

The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic exams and procedures in the Ultrasound department efficiently and according to physician orders. The role requires effective interaction with patients and physicians while maintaining a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

Responsibilities

• Complete ultrasound studies in a timely and efficient manner while assisting others during downtime.
• Check exam charges and maintain a 5-day late list daily for the ultrasound department.
• Organize workflow during high volume to expedite patient care and communicate any pending exams to fellow technologists.
• Assist physicians in performing various radiology procedures.
• Promote departmental positivity and discuss concerns with the supervisor as necessary.
• Maintain a minimum inventory of supplies and develop new methods for their utilization.
• Handle equipment safely and responsibly following guidelines and policies.
• Keep the work area clean and follow all equipment cleaning policies.
• Follow the on-call policy, responding in a timely manner and arriving at the department as needed.
• Assist with procedures in other areas of radiology when required.
• Adhere to attendance, tardiness, dress code, and appearance policies.
• Participate in required in-services and meetings.
• Follow safety and infection control procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Schedule

This position offers a day shift from Tuesday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a guaranteed 40-hour workweek.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the ultrasound field.
• Echo and Vascular experience is mandatory.
• Ability to perform Echocardiograms with Definity Contrast is required.
• Experience with TTE Echocardiograms, TEE, stress echo, venous reflux exams, venous dopplers, carotid doppler, arterial doppler, ABI, pericardiocentesis, thrombin injections, and vein mapping exams is mandatory.
• Able to start own IV.
• Experience with MediTech EMR is required.
• Active ARDMS certification is required.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Permanent address must be outside of 90 miles from Batesville.
