Job Description

The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse utilizes clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. As a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), you will care for over 4,000 cardiology patients annually, including procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. The unit specializes in the care of patients with congestive heart failure and conducts electrophysiology studies.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to cardiovascular patients, particularly those post-op from open heart surgery.
• Utilize clinical judgment in diagnosing and treating health conditions.
• Participate in research managed by the NISUS department.
• Collaborate effectively with the medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
• Administer medications and conduct patient assessments as required.
• Support and educate patients and their families regarding health conditions and treatments.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1+ year of ICU experience (floating does not count).
• EKG experience is required.
• Willingness to float to similar units (Neuro, CVICU, Trauma) is preferred.
• Experience managing ventilators, CRRT, and balloon pumps is preferred.
• Current Michigan RN license verification is required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• Health system-wide profile standards checklist must be complete within one year of application.

Assignment Duration

This is a contract position, with an expected duration of 13 weeks.
