Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through intensive respiratory services and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining treatment purposes and procedures, and educating patients upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment and devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
• Conduct suctioning procedures using oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Implement oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor efficiency of ventilation, documenting and reporting results.
• Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation as per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment and assist in its repair.
• Record treatment information and communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry.

Schedule

This position offers a Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
