Job Description
The Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery performs a plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatment. They assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care appropriately, monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as necessary to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluate learning needs of patients and/or families, providing appropriate education.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Circulate during C-sections, assist physicians during deliveries as needed.
- Follow policies for recovery and care of surgical patients, assessing neonates post-delivery.
- Attend required certification classes and maintain continuing education.
- Identify necessary information to communicate to physicians and patients.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Must have an active RN license (WY or compact).
- Must have ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE, and AWHONN certifications (must be attached to submission); all certifications must be through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in RN Level 1 Nursery, Postpartum, OB/GYN, and Labor and Delivery.
- Experience in caring for OB/GYN patients, Antepartum care, Triage care, Labor and Delivery care, and Postpartum care is preferred.
- Candidates may be required to float to another unit as needed.
