Job Description

The Certified Surgical Technologist or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Responsibilities include preparing patient skin for surgery, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing comfort and support for patients. The role also includes transporting patients, positioning them according to the type of surgery, and preparing the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Assists professional nurse in delivering direct patient care in the OR prior to and during surgical procedures.
• Establishes and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments, and assists physicians as directed.
• Uses physician preference cards to pull cases and set up the OR.
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Adheres to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety.
• Ensures compliance with decontamination, processing, and sterilization policies and procedures.
• Adapts patient care responsibilities to accommodate unique patient needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of the Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• BLS certification from AHA required.
• 2 or more years of experience preferred.
• Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN Licensure required.
